Kat Kamalani, digital creator and former flight attendant, shared what she would never consume on a plane

A flight attendant has given her opinion on what to avoid consuming while in flight and some safe alternative solutions.

Kat Kamalani, digital creator and former flight attendant, told her followers what she would never consume on a plane.

“Never consume any liquid that is not in a can or bottle,” the mother of two declared in a Instagram Reel.

He added that the reason behind his strong stance against water tanks was because they are rarely cleaned.

“They are disgusting,” he declared.

“Talk to a flight attendant: We rarely drink the coffee or tea that comes out of the same water tank,” he said.

She continued: “When you drink, coffee and tea comes from hot water and it’s absolutely disgusting.”

He then pointed to a photo of the plane’s coffee machines, stating that they are “rarely cleaned” unless they are broken.

Kat assured viewers that the machine’s actual pots are taken out between flights, but the entire machine is never properly cleaned.

“And they’re next to the bathrooms,” he shared.

The mother then shared a useful trick for parents who want to give their baby a bottle mid-flight.

“So advice to all parents: never ask for hot water and put it in your baby’s bottle,” the mother said.

“Ask for bottled water on the side and hot water in a cup, then make a bottle for your baby with the bottled water, put it in the cup and warm it up.”

Users were divided on the advice, with many saying they are also flight attendants and have no qualms about drinking water on board.

‘I’m a flight attendant. American carrier. This nonsense has been going on for years. And for years I’ve drank coffee and tea on airplanes; I have never gotten sick from it,” someone commented.

‘IT’S NOT TRUE! Stewardesses always drink the coffee! I’ve been flying since 1985 and one of the first things we do is make coffee. It’s a rumor that it’s the same tank as the lavs!!!!’ added another.

‘Those water tanks meet federal standards and also, please tell me how often do you clean the water pipes in your house?’ he questioned someone else.

“I bring my own bottle of water and that’s all I drink on a plane,” someone shared.

Last year, a flight attendant from the US, who worked as cabin crew for several years on several airlines, shared some of her observations and career advice with DailyMail.com.

She says hot water pots are rarely “thoroughly cleaned” and can be a breeding ground for germs.

Instead, he recommends consuming cold drinks during the flight or filling a flask with a hot drink from an airport vendor before boarding.
