Sun, sea and beach. A picnic in the park. Simple pleasures that make Sydney great are back, this weekend anyway.
It has been wet and miserable for most of this year, much worse for people in flood-affected areas elsewhere in NSW.
But suddenly, like Christmas in October, the latest weather forecast is pleasing to the eye: the sun is coming through this weekend and we’re all invited.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there was a zero percent chance of rain on Saturday. And the fun doesn’t stop until late on Sunday, where there’s a very slim chance of getting wet.
It’s good news, as it has rained for nearly 30 weekends in Sydney this year, according to measurements from Observatory Hill.
So, is the sun here to stay? Unfortunately, the La Nina weather system – which is responsible for record rains – is still with us.
The good news? It looks like it’s thinking about moving forward and we could be back to normal summer conditions by January. All the bushwalks and backyard cricket you could dream of.
