You may consider yourself an expert in dressing, but every woman has at least one

You may consider yourself a sartorial expert, but unfortunately every woman has at least one “wardrobe staple” that doesn’t do her any favors.

And, according to the fashion expert Natalia AngelThere are some repeat offenders who can make a woman look ten years older than she really is.

Natalie, from Australia’s Sunshine Coast, is passionate about encouraging women to embrace their own style while finding the courage to try new looks.

And while the 43-year-old says “there’s no right or wrong way to dress,” there are some clothes that invariably don’t flatter women and need to be shown the door.

But getting rid of those clothes that prematurely age you doesn’t have to just be an exercise in cleaning out your closet; instead natalia she sees it as part of a process of updating her wardrobe and having the “confidence to try something new.”

OLD GLASSES

It may be surprising to you to know that your daily sunglasses and reading glasses can be a fashion faux pas if the look is dated.

Natalie said glasses can reveal a person’s age, or make them look older without realizing it, so it’s important to keep up to date with the latest styles.

You may consider yourself a sartorial expert, but every woman has at least one “wardrobe staple” that doesn’t do her any favors. According to fashion expert Natalie Angel, there are some repeat offenders who can make a woman look ten years older than she really is.

“Glasses are an important thing to keep in mind when it comes to staying fashionable,” he said.

“I could guess how old you are by looking at the reading glasses and sunglasses you’re wearing.”

This means that if you wear glasses that are normally associated with someone much older, you can end up aging your entire look.

Natalia’s solution? Ditch the reading glasses from your local drugstore and buy a pair of fancy optometrist ones instead.

“Update your style to make sure they’re on-trend.”

OLD FOOTWEAR

The shoes you wear can also be an indication of your age (or youth).

Earlier this year, Generation Z, ages 12 to 27, caused a stir among 30-something Millennials by bringing back visible socks and declaring that athletic or low-cut socks were “uncool.”

Likewise, Natalie said footwear can also be an indicator of a person’s age.

‘Unfortunately, super comfortable, conservative shoes scream that you’re old. “You can wear a trendy dress, but if you wear the wrong shoes, that certainly ages you too,” she said.

But all is not lost for lovers of comfortable footwear.

‘There are so many good brands that offer wide foot options and prioritize comfort. It is possible to be super comfortable and fashionable in your footwear.’

Ripped jeans

Any type of distressed denim, like ripped jeans, should be avoided at all costs, says Natalie.

It may have once been fashionable, but today it seems outdated. And outdated styles give away the wearer’s true age or make them look older than they really are.

Another rule for denim is that it’s essential to wear the right cut for your body type (more on this later).

Natalie specifically warns to never, under any circumstances, wear skinny jeans with tiger stripes on the hips. Skinny, ripped denim is an absolute no-no.

‘Any denim with holes is a look that no one wears anymore. Just throw it away,” he advises.

BAD FITTING CLOTHES

It’s not limited to ill-fitting denim: Natalie suggests getting rid of all the clothes that no longer fit.

Add that clearing your closet of outgrown clothes will not only make you look instantly younger, but it’s the perfect opportunity to update your wardrobe and experiment with style.

‘Nothing ages women more than wearing clothes that don’t fit well. Generally a woman does it to try to stay in the size she used to wear,” she explained. ‘No!’

The only exception to the rule is if you have lost weight and have a closet full of baggy clothes. Some of these old items can be reused for style.

“The baggy clothing trend is not going anywhere,” says Natalie.

You’re not wrong: baggy pants, baggy shirts, oversized sweaters and blazers are still everywhere this summer.

CHANGE YOUR HAIRSTYLE

Not changing your hairstyle for years is a sure way to stay stuck in a certain period and invariably makes you look older.

If you want to look ten years younger, a shortcut that doesn’t involve updating your entire wardrobe is to modify your hairstyle.

Doing so can renew your entire appearance, without having to pay a high price..

Natalie recommends a subtle approach, however. Try small adjustments, like a new color or trendy bangs, instead of cutting your hair completely..
