Dr Preeya Alexander, from Victoria, said her baked tuna sushi is the perfect easy-to-cook dish when you're in a hurry.

An Australian doctor and mother shared the delicious meal she prepares for her family in less than 30 minutes after a long shift.

Dr Preeya Alexander, from Victoria, said her baked tuna sushi is the perfect dish and is easy to cook when you’re in a hurry.

“Canned tuna is the best: it’s easy, it’s always in the pantry and it’s cost-effective,” he said in a video.

“I’m making this in the middle of the week while I’m on the run with hungry kids and don’t have much time.”

The ingredients needed for the dish are sushi rice, mirin, sesame oil, canned tuna, celery, red onion, Kewpie mayonnaise, nori sheets, avocados, furikake seasoning, cucumbers, and baby corn.

To prepare the dish, you must first preheat the oven to 180C.

Cook the sushi rice and then add the mirin and sesame oil.

While the rice is cooking, combine the tuna, celery, onion, and mayonnaise in a bowl and mash with a fork.

Take a baking sheet and pour the rice onto it before layering the tuna mixture on top.

Put it in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until you are happy with the temperature.

To serve, simply spoon some of the baking onto a sheet of nori and combine with some chopped cucumber.

“The nice thing about this dish is that you can add anything: peas, carrots and cucumbers,” Dr. Alexander said.

“Any rainbow counts for the body.”

The phrase ‘eating a rainbow’ refers to combining different colored fruits and vegetables in one meal to maximize nutrient intake.

“You can also sprinkle on more things, like toasted black sesame seeds,” she said.

Many thanked Dr. Alexander for her excellent prescription.

“It’s a great idea, my three-year-old son is going to love it,” said one mother.

“My kids destroy this every time I make it,” another added.
