A desperate search for a missing mother of two who vanished before she could have children from foster care

Date:

A 26-year-old mother of two from Minnesota disappeared nearly a week ago in what local police describe as “suspicious” circumstances after her phone and wallet were found in her home.

Madeline Kingsbury, 26, was last seen on March 31 at around 10 a.m. at her home on Kerry Drive in Winona, near the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin.

She and the father of her children – a 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy – had just dropped them off at daycare before returning home.

At about 10 years old, the children’s father left their home in a dark blue 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, he told authorities. By the time he returned later that day, Kingsbury was no longer there.

Her job said she didn’t show up and her friends and family say she didn’t return a number of calls and messages. She also did not pick up her children.

Winona Police said that based on their investigation, Kingsbury’s disappearance is a suspect, Kerr mentioned.

“We believe Maddy’s disappearance to be both involuntary and suspicious, and we are all concerned for her safety,” said Police Chief Tom Williams.

It is not clear that she left her home of her own volition as she left her phone, wallet and ID card inside her home.

Using surveillance video, police identified a truck matching the description of the vehicle the father of her children said he was driving in Fillmore County between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to La Crosse Tribune.

“Based on the investigation, we know that the children were dropped off at daycare and that the van drove home,” Williams said.

They did not confirm who was driving the truck at the time. They are asking residents in both counties to check their security cameras to see if they have noticed the minibus.

“The investigation remains open and ongoing as to what happened upon his return home,” he added.

Winona police have not shown a suspect, but have asked residents to check their security cameras for a dark blue minibus “driving or stopping” in Winona Township, Wilson Township, and Hillsdale Township between 8 a.m. March 31 and 4 p.m. April. 1.
