A top Democratic strategist has warned his party that Donald Trump’s poll numbers could be misleading and that they should not take them for granted.

James Carville, who rose to fame for helping Bill Clinton toward White House In 1992, he said Trump was traditionally underperforming in the polls, which should worry his party.

Speaking on Bill Maher’s Real Time show, Carville said: “I tell Democrats to be careful. First of all, most quantitative analysts say we have to win by three points in the popular vote.

‘So when you see a poll that says we’re up two, well, you’re actually down one if the poll is correct.

“Traditionally, when Trump is in the polls, polls show him chronically underperforming. In 2020, polls showed Biden winning Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania by seven or eight points.”

“I think the debate on September 10th is going to be very important. It’s going to have an audience that we can’t believe, because the thing that America likes most is a disaster.”

According to a recent study CNN PollHarris now leads the race with 50 percent, while Trump trails by 2 percent, at 48 percent.

Findings by The New York Times Data released last week suggests the two presidential candidates are now in tight races in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina.

Just weeks ago, Trump looked set to win these states, but new polls show Harris gradually erasing his lead.

In Georgia, he still has the lead with 50 percent to her 46 percent, and in Nevada, it’s 48 percent for him and 47 percent for Harris.

Harris has won 49 percent of the vote to Trump’s 47 percent in North Carolina, one of the key swing states he won in 2020.

Polls continue to show some risks for Harris, including that 49 percent of voters consider her too liberal, while 33 percent consider Trump too conservative.

Despite his scathing opinion, Carville added: “I actually like Biden. He’s a tenacious guy who’s had a real life.

“He’s a public school kid. He doesn’t have an ounce of elitism. He doesn’t even know what ‘woke’ is.”

‘He has demonstrably been the best president black America has ever had, Clinton and Obama included.

“If you look at income, employment, poverty rates, access to health care, it’s not quite at the same level as whites, but it’s closer than ever.”

‘And let me tell you something about… Marjorie Taylor Greene. She dresses like white trash. She really needs a fashion consultant. May I recommend George Santos?’
