A Jeep driver deliberately ran over 25 seagulls on a beach and nearly hit two people walking their dogs, witnesses say.

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife police are searching for the driver after receiving photographs of the man and his blood-stained car.

The seagull massacre occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday at Klipsan Beach near Ocean Park, Washington, in front of shocked witnesses.

Kim Ledyard McGee said she and her friend Dorothy Howard saw the man speeding along the beach in his rented silver Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“A few minutes later, he passed us again at high speed. After the third time, Bob threw our beat-up truck to the side right in front of him, forcing him to either hit us or stop,” he said.

“We went out and yelled at him… He even had a dead bird on the grill! After we got it out, he ran off at high speed.”

McGee, Howard and Bob collected three birds that were still alive to take to a wildlife center for treatment, “but sadly they died in our arms.”

“It’s something very sad and I won’t be able to stop watching it or forget it,” he said.

McGee took photos of the driver and the Jeep, which had pieces of seagulls lodged in the grill, along with video of numerous dead birds in the sand.

Fish and Wildlife Police said officers “identified the driver through these community members and officers are currently attempting to contact the man who is believed to be living out of state.”

“The same Jeep almost ran over two men who were walking their dogs on the beach,” he added.

Howard said the man was the husband of a former Ilwaco High School student who was in the area for a class reunion and had returned home to Hawaii.

She said the couple returned the Jeep to the airport on Monday night and the man ignored calls from police.

Howard said police informed him the man would receive a court summons and face felony charges.
