A conman who had “I am a thief and a fool” tattooed on his forehead has been arrested by Brazilian police just two days after being released from prison.

Ruan Rocha da Silva, 23, was arrested Wednesday alongside another suspect after the two allegedly broke into a home. in Jardim Arpoador, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Police recovered the items taken during the burglary when they arrested the two men, local media report.

Da Silva rose to fame after he was caught red-handed in 2017 when he stole a bicycle from a tattoo artist – who then forcibly tattooed “I am a thief and a fool” on his forehead.

Despite this poignant reminder every time he looks in the mirror, da Silva apparently still hasn’t learned his lesson, since this week’s burglary took place just two days after his release from prison.

Da Silva rose to fame after he was caught red-handed in 2017 when he stole a bicycle from a tattoo artist – who then forcibly tattooed “I am a thief and a fool” on his forehead.

He was jailed for four years in 2019 after breaking into the homes of two health workers to steal money and phones. He was immediately identified and arrested because of his strange facial tattoo.

His tattoo has been partially removed, but some letters are still clearly visible on his forehead.

In December last year, da Silva was one of seven detainees who escaped from Sao Paulo’s Belem 1 pretrial detention center on Christmas Day.

It was just days before his release, after his lawyer argued he no longer posed a threat to society.

The inmates broke a guardrail and captured a prison guard before fleeing the prison.

Da Silva turned himself in to police two days later and was sent to a high-security prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Both were sentenced to more than three years in prison for torture in 2018 over the tattoo they gave Da Silva.

Da Silva underwent plastic surgery to remove the tattoo, but it was only partially successful.
