A couple who tied the knot in Mexico have revealed the exact breakdown of their lavish Mexican wedding.
California couple Misaki Hajimirsadeghi and her husband Amir, both 29, who tied the knot on April 2, 2024 (11 years after meeting during their first week of college in 2013) spent $80,000 on their lavish ceremony.
But they said this was a fraction of the price many of their guests paid for similar ceremonies.
After finishing her courses at the University of California, Misaki returned home to Los Angeles, and Amir also moved to the area to work.
The couple began dating in October 2019 and three years later, Amir got down on one knee and popped the question the day after Christmas.
Misaki and Amir wanted to pay for the wedding themselves, so they saved up $100,000, in case they went over budget.

“We wanted to spend our money wisely. We wanted it to be a destination wedding.
‘When you become an adult it’s very difficult to plan a vacation with family and friends, so the only way to do it was to force them to celebrate a wedding.’
Despite the high cost of the day, Misaki said it was more affordable compared to other weddings they have attended.
She said: ‘We’re surrounded by people who have million-dollar weddings. We had a cheap wedding in terms of what we did.
‘The intention was not to have an expensive wedding, but rather a more affordable one.
“We spent our money wisely and used it to bring all our family and friends together.”
The couple knew exactly what they wanted for their big day and were willing to shell out the cash to make it happen.
Misaki said, ‘We both woke up at 6 in the morning. We stayed in the same room and exchanged vows in our dorm together.
“It didn’t feel natural for us to make public vows. I’m very happy that we did it that way; it set the tone for the day.
‘My parents walked down the hall and stopped where the last group of chairs was.
‘I walked down the aisle alone and ran into them, and we walked the rest of the way together.’
Misaki and Amir met through a friend during their first week at the University of California, San Diego.
But they didn’t start dating until three years after they split in October 2019.
Misaki said, ‘His dorm was down the hall from the girls’ dorm. We met there and then my roommate became good friends with him through football.
‘That’s how we stayed in touch during college. After college, he moved to Los Angeles for work and that’s where we met again.
‘I was hosting parties in LA and he would come over and we would just start hanging out.’

She continued: ‘Every date we went on, it just got better and better. It all felt natural to us.
‘It felt like home. I feel most comfortable when I’m with him. We share the same sense of humor and we’re very similar.
“The most important thing is that I respect him as a person and I am always inspired by him.”
After a few years of dating, the couple got engaged on December 26, 2022, on a rooftop overlooking Los Angeles.
Misaki said, ‘He told all my friends and family that he was going to propose to me.
‘The actual proposal was on a rooftop in Los Angeles. He had set up a beautiful floral arrangement and popped the question.
‘After he proposed to me, our immediate family came and surprised us, and then we had an engagement party with all of our friends.’
