A cooperation agreement between the Italian Eni and Egypt on reducing emissions
Italian energy group Eni said on Monday that it had signed an agreement with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to cooperate in emission reduction technology.
The two companies will conduct joint studies to reduce emissions in the oil and gas sector in Egypt, where Eni is the largest producer of hydrocarbons, equivalent to about 350,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The agreement was signed on the same day that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, in Cairo to discuss the group’s exploration work and future plans for the energy transition in Egypt.
US energy companies Eni and Chevron said on Sunday that they had discovered a new gas reservoir in a field off the Egyptian coast in the eastern Mediterranean.
