We’re used to seeing him chasing lambs and driving his parents’ tractor, but beneath his rugged exterior, Reuben Owen is already a big romantic.
The 19-year-old farmer, who rose to fame with his parents and siblings on Our Yorkshire Farm, has been in love with his girlfriend Sarah Dow since December 2021 and isn’t afraid to show it.
The teenager is currently starring in a Channel 5 spin-off of his parents’ show, centering on his digging business, aided by his father Clive, 67, his best friend Tom and girlfriend Sarah.
The first three episodes of the show were released last year and now air weekly on Tuesdays at 9 p.m., after a few months of hiatus.
In this week’s episode, the beloved Reuben took his friends on a road trip to attend various wagon and tractor auctions far from the Yorkshire Dales, and the romantic 19-year-old treated his significant other to a second-hand car for her driving test.

In the episode, Reuben, Sarah and Tom drove to an international tractor show, where they witnessed auctions.
During the road trip, Reuben managed to get himself a new car for £1,600, but wanted to do something for Sarah, who was about to take her driving test and had left the auction empty-handed.
Back in the Yorkshire Dales, the 19-year-old proudly announced to his girlfriend that he had a surprise for her.
He could barely contain his excitement when he was filmed driving to his girlfriend’s surprise.
“You see it around the corner, I packed it all for you,” he told her.
Meanwhile, Sarah jokingly said, “I’m scared,” but Reuben reassured her.
“It’s something you’ll find very useful and you don’t have one right now,” he told her.
After the lovebirds reached their destination, the digging entrepreneur told his girlfriend to close her eyes when they stopped in front of a vehicle wrapped under a white sheet.

Reuben, 18, (pictured with his partner) delighted viewers with his farming knowledge and enthusiasm, so much so that after five seasons on Our Yorkshire Farm, he joined dad Clive, 67, in a spin-off show
“Careful, close those eyes,” he said to Sarah, who walked over to her present.
“Oh my god,” she said.
“Ta-dah,” Reuben said with an excited smile.
He lifted the sheet to reveal a gray used Ford Fiesta he’d bought for his girlfriend.
“Ford Fiesta, aw, he’s so cute,” Sarah said, looking at the vehicle.
“It’s cute, isn’t it? I mean it’s kind of rough, it wasn’t a fortune. I’m not going to lie,” Reuben said.
But Sarah, visibly touched by her boyfriend’s attention, said she didn’t care that the car hadn’t cost much.

Amanda and Clive (pictured with their children) – who married in 2000 – met in 1996 when he was already divorced with two children, after she arrived on his farm as a 21-year-old shepherdess-in-training

The father-and-son duo appeared on Channel 5’s Beyond The Yorkshire Farm where they started a digging business; it charted the challenges Reuben faced, supported by his father Clive, best friend Tom and girlfriend Sarah Dow (pictured together)

‘I got £300 for it,’ said Reuben, while Sarah was delighted, ‘what a bargain.’
Reuben proudly added that the car had 40,000 on it and it had barely been “run in.”
“It’s just a baby,” Sarah exclaimed, adding that she didn’t care that the car’s interior was “muddy.”
‘Yes, I’m glad, thank you very much. I would never find one,” she told Reuben.

In June, Reuben celebrated their six-month anniversary by posting a series of sweet photos of them together

He captioned the photos: “Can’t believe you put up with me for 6 months… #ily.”

Meanwhile, in February, newly released ratings revealed that Amanda’s new Channel 4 show drew less than half the viewers of Clive and son Reuben’s Yorkshire Farm spin-off. In the photo, Reuben and his girlfriend
Always the devoted friend, Reuben also maintained Sarah’s car so that it would be ready to go after she passed her driving test.

Meanwhile, in February, newly released ratings revealed that Amanda’s new Channel 4 show drew less than half the viewers of Clive and son Reuben’s Yorkshire Farm spin-off.
An industry insider described the numbers for the first episode of Amanda Owen’s Farming Lives as “solid.”
Viewers peaked at 610,000, with 329,000 watching the show live on More 4 when it aired on 25 January.
The show topped the ratings for More 4 and nearly doubled the audience share of the channel’s next most popular broadcast that week, Grand Designs.
However, it was still well behind the 1.7m who tuned in to watch Beyond The Yorkshire Farm in December.
A source in the farming community in Dales said: ‘This is not what was expected. Amanda is the TV star and Clive is a farmer who somehow ended up in television.
“I don’t think anyone expected his show or Reuben’s to do better than Amanda, certainly not.”
Clive and Reuben’s show was based on the teenager’s new contract search business and was a surprise ratings hit for Channel 5.
During Our Yorkshire Farm, viewers saw Reuben, who grew up on the farm and helped give birth to lambs, plow fields and hand feed cows from a very young age, got an apprenticeship to learn how to repair tractors.
During their 21-year marriage, Amanda, 48, and Clive, 67, welcomed Raven, 21, Reuben, 18, Miles, 16, Edith, 14, Violet, 12, Sidney, 11, Annas, nine, Clemmy, seven, and Nancy , six.
Most young people help out on the 2,000 acre Ravenseat family farm in the Yorkshire Dales, caring for 1,000 sheep, 40 cows, several dogs and four horses.
But the elder Raven has started to carve out her own career away from the limelight, taking a degree in Biology with First Class Honours.
In February, Amanda welcomed her eldest daughter back to her family’s farm after years of living in college.
