  • “I just got kicked off a @WestJet flight from Mexico because I had an upset stomach and went to the bathroom too much before takeoff,” he wrote.

A woman went public with her dismay on social media after saying she was kicked off a flight from Mexico back home to Canada for using the bathroom too many times before takeoff.

Joanna Chiu, a newspaper reporter and author, went to X on Friday to complain about her ordeal while preparing to fly home to Vancouver via Canadian airline WestJet.

“I just got kicked off a @WestJet flight from Mexico because I had an upset stomach and went to the bathroom too much before takeoff,” he wrote.

Not only that, he said he was given “no promise of a hotel or flight booking change.”

He explained that his trips to the bathroom were caused by illness, but added that he “was on medication and was recovering” and was wondering if he could get “some customer service.”

Joanna Chiu, a newspaper reporter and author, went to X on Friday to complain about her ordeal while preparing to fly home to Vancouver via Canadian airline WestJet.

Chiu ended his thread with a sarcastic recommendation: “If you’re sick before a flight, wait.”

Her problems continued after Chiu said she was rushed off the plane, realizing she had left her money on board with the people she was traveling with.

A WestJet supervisor refused to give him money for a taxi. He posted a photo of the supervisor looking upset and said he “burst into tears” after they became aggressive, calling him an “asshole.”

Chiu claimed he was recording their interaction.

“This @WestJet supervisor said unless I deleted the video I wouldn’t be able to get on a flight tomorrow.”

A “nicer” employee then spoke to her but “refused to give her a booking reference for my booked flight.”

“She told me to go back to the airport tomorrow and ask at the counter,” Chiu added, saying she was “legitimately worried about being arrested.”

Finally, he claimed that WestJet sent him a direct message with his reservation reference number.

Chiu said she was quickly taken off the plane and realized she had left her money on board with the people she was traveling with.

Chiu announced Sunday that he had finally arrived home to Vancouver and warned travelers to “check if your destination is known for stomach viruses.”

“If you go to the bathroom before a flight and the flight attendant asks if you’re sick, say you just have a small bladder,” he continued.

Reaction to Chiu’s rant was mixed, with some warning her that by flying while sick, she was putting people in danger.

“The passenger was sick and as such should not have flown,” said one social media user.

‘It appears that this issue may have resulted in the passenger having to occupy the bathroom for the entire return flight, or at times when “in the seat” is required for safety. Good call, poorly communicated.’

Others were more encouraging and said they were sorry this had happened to him.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, a WestJet spokesperson expressed regret over what happened to Chiu.

“We sincerely apologize to Ms. Chiu for the inconvenience and inconvenience she experienced during her recent travel experience, including the delay in communication that occurred while she was waiting for a suitable accommodation option,” Madison Kruger said.

Kruger added that the airline takes “any health-related concerns very seriously” and said that “in circumstances where a guest is deemed unfit to travel due to illness, our crew are trained to make difficult decisions.” , but necessary, in the name of security”. ‘

She said they immediately contacted Chiu after her X thread to provide her with more accommodation.
