A California man claims his sex life was ruined after a painful encounter at the luxurious Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.
Michael Farchi, 62, says he was sleeping at the Palazzo Tower over the 2023 Christmas holidays when he woke up with a sharp pain and realised he had been bitten in the groin by a scorpion.
“He felt multiple additional stinging sensations in his hand and groin area,” according to a lawsuit filed on behalf of Michael Farchi and his wife, Batia.
Farchi claims to have suffered post-traumatic stress disorder, erectile dysfunction and other lasting effects. His wife has also filed a lawsuit for loss of consortium, alleging that his and his wife’s sex lives have been affected due to the incident.

Michael Farchi, 62, who was visiting over the 2023 Christmas holiday, says he was bitten in the groin area while sleeping at the Palazzo Tower and woke up to searing pain.
One of Farchi’s California attorneys, Brian Virag of My Bed Bug Lawyer, explained to 8 News Now Why were they also filing a claim on behalf of Mr. Farchi’s wife.
“She alleges that her sexual relationship has suffered significantly since the attack,” he said.
In court documents filed on August 27, the plaintiffs allege that the hotel breached its duty of care by failing to provide a clean and safe room free of pests, including bedbugs and scorpions.
The attorney provided 8 News Now with photographs of the scorpion clinging to his underwear.
“It doesn’t really matter much how it got there,” Virag said. “The fact that it was there and that they were aware that there had been previous problems with scorpions on the property in question is obviously the main point here.”
Farchi’s lawsuit alleges that the Venetian Resort was aware of a prior infestation of venomous scorpions.
“As far as we understand, there was some construction going on at the time this incident occurred,” Virag said.
Farchi provided 8 News Now with a medical incident report he filed at the Palazzo on Dec. 26. The report details the incident, including his suite number and the note he wrote to hotel staff: “I was bitten by a scorpion in the groin/testicles.”
He added that the hotel did not take him seriously and even made fun of him.
“They were holding their groin and laughing about it,” he said. “It was really embarrassing.”

Farchi claims to have suffered post-traumatic stress disorder, erectile dysfunction and other lasting effects. His wife has also filed a lawsuit for loss of consortium, alleging that his and his wife’s sex lives have been affected due to the incident.
Summerlin Hospital diagnosed her with “poisoning: scorpion sting,” according to the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, Farchi was treated at UCLA Medical Center, where doctors diagnosed him with physical injuries, including erectile dysfunction, caused by the scorpion sting.
“It has a lot of consequences for my family, my job, everything,” Farchi said in an interview with 8 News Now.
Farchi is requesting a jury trial to determine damages for her past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of companionship and loss of enjoyment of life, as stated in the complaint.
