A man has been accused of taking a boy he picked up at a local train station to a park before sexually assaulting him at knifepoint.
The 33-year-old man is due to appear in court on Wednesday after being arrested on a street in Mt Druitt, in Sydney’s west, the previous evening.
Police allege he approached a young man at the local train station early on Thursday morning and took him to a nearby park before threatening him with a knife.
The man then allegedly sexually assaulted the victim before leaving the scene in a white van.
He was subsequently charged with aggravated sexual intercourse with a girl between the ages of 10 and 14 and intentional sexual touching of a girl.
The man was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court.
Sex Crimes Squad Commander Jayne Doherty urged the public to be vigilant for children in their communities and report anyone acting suspiciously.
“If you are a victim of sexual violence, contact the police or support services,” she said.
You will receive support during this difficult time.
