The grandson of Hollywood star Paul Hogan has been charged with breaking into a secure lounge at Sydney International Airport to steal a $5,000 bicycle, just months after avoiding jail.

Police allege Jake Paul Hogan had burglary tools in his possession on August 10 when he broke into a secure employee bike rack at Sydney International Airport.

While inside, the 34-year-old allegedly stole a custom-made, champagne-colored Surly Ogre bicycle valued at more than $5,000.

Just three days later, police say he returned shortly after 5 a.m. with burglary tools and two black mountain bikes suspected to have been stolen.

Mr Hogan was charged with six offences relating to the raids on 28 August, when he was already in custody on separate trespassing allegations.

He was represented by his lawyer at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, where his matter was adjourned until later this month.

At the time of his arrest he was in pre-trial detention.
