A bald man was left sobbing with joy after an “amazing” hair transformation left him unrecognisable.
Gethin was left stunned after his hairdresser Rob Wood, from Novo Cabelo salon in Durham, breathed new life into his locks.
Before Rob wove his magic, Gethin’s hair was thinning on top and he was forced to style it in a slicked back style.
The Novo Cabelo staff filmed the transformation and shared it on TikTok, garnering over half a million views from stunned social media users.
As he first sat in the chair, Gethin explained why he had made an appointment at the salon.
Gethin, 40 (pictured), came to Novo Cabelo looking for a new look after his hair had been thinning for years.
He revealed that his hair had been thinning for years, but since his 40th birthday last February he had been trying to hide his hair loss.
He said: (My hair) He started to lose weight. Obviously, in the back, you can see on the forehead, obviously, he’s losing a lot of hair as well.
“You get used to the same old thing. I guess that’s the only way I can explain it.”
Explaining her frustration at not being able to do anything with her hair, she added: “You just do it, you get on with it and it is what it is.”
Excited for a new beginning, Gethin placed his trust in the talented hands of barber Rob and exclaimed, “40 starts today.”
When cutting and shaving Gethin’s hair, the specialist barber carefully selected real human hair to match the 40-year-old’s colour, texture and style.
According to Rob, the hair system can last between four and six months, but it needs to be re-applied every three to four weeks.
Filled with tears of joy, Gethin was speechless when she saw her new appearance in the mirror.
The beaming 40-year-old said: “Oh my God. I never thought I’d see that day again. God, it’s absolutely amazing, I love it, I love it.”
However, this wasn’t the first time hairstylist Rob has transformed someone’s hair, as he started his “quarantine baby” Novo Cabelo four years ago.

Rob told MailOnline: “It all started 10 years ago. One of the girls who worked for me, her brother-in-law, was going through a really tough time because of her hair loss.
‘So, I did a little bit of searching on YouTube and looking for information to see what was actually available and what we could do, and that’s when I found hair systems.’
After trying the hair system on his colleague’s brother-in-law, Rob decided to open Novo Cabelo and specialize in treating hair loss in people of all ages and genders.
Reflecting on Gethin’s transformation, who was heading into the salon as we spoke, Rob said: “It’s amazing. Because on the one hand, I’m just doing my job, but I just love it.”
“I never get tired of doing it. I just find that it’s something so simple that can really change people’s lives and the way they see themselves.
“The way they feel inside. Being able to perform that service is a great blessing and a real privilege.”
She added: ‘For Gethin, this new look was really important because he was at a point in his life where he felt like he needed to change and feel better.
‘And this was just the beginning of his journey, and it was quite emotional, even just meeting him for a consultation.
“We are all different and everyone sees hair differently. We all have stories to tell and I think that’s what makes it beautiful.”
Gethin was more than delighted with his new look and often shows off his new hairstyling methods at the salon, according to Rob.
Gethin was close to tears when his new haircut was revealed and joked: “I never thought I’d see that day again.”
