The Spanish civil guard is investigating the murder of a 96-year-old woman in a residence in Valencia, which is believed to have been committed by her 92-year-old roommate.
Media ABCDiario reported that on Tuesday night an elderly woman in a nursing home in the municipality of Chiva, Valencia, was asphyxiated while she slept.
The police were alerted after staff members, who entered the room to give their medications to the two women who shared a room, discovered the lifeless body.
The death occurred under strange circumstances.
After examining the body, the agents present at the scene concluded that the 96-year-old woman showed signs of asphyxiation, which was confirmed hours later by a forensic doctor.
Police suspect that a 96-year-old woman, who was found dead in a nursing home, was murdered by her roommate.
No arrests have been made yet, but according to Lift-EMVThe Civil Guard is waiting for the autopsy to be performed to clarify what happened.
Although the causes are not yet known, the alleged murderer suffered from senile dementia.
If this information is confirmed, the woman would be blameless, but to do so she would have to confirm her condition with psychiatric examinations.
