The emergency services went to the Les Arcs resort, in the Savoy district, around 10:30 a.m. today after learning of the violent collision between the two skiers.

The unnamed British woman, 62, is said to have crashed head-on into a 35-year-old British man on the black slope of the Aiguille Rouge piste after losing control of her skis and died following the accident.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to French media outlet Le Dauphine, the Briton, who was stationary at the time of the collision, suffered a broken leg and was taken to a local medical center.
