Police investigate the death of a British tourist in Magaluf.

The 49-year-old was found unconscious on the complex’s Martin Ros street, near the noisy Punta Ballena strip, after the alarm was activated at around 4.30am this morning.

A security guard alerted local police, telling them he had seen the man collapse and fall to the ground.

Attempts to resuscitate him at the scene were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The dead man was identified by the hotel bracelet he was wearing.

Police were called to the hotel, which has not yet been officially named, to inform friends and relatives who were supposedly staying there.

An autopsy is expected to be carried out in the next few hours. The investigation into the tourist’s death is being conducted by the Civil Guard, which is obtaining images from security cameras in the area.

A spokesman for Calvia Town Hall, the local authority responsible for Magaluf, confirmed: ‘A 49-year-old British tourist died in the street this morning in the Magaluf area.

‘It happened around 4:30 in the morning. The deceased was staying in a hotel in the area.

He added: ‘An employee of a local establishment alerted the police, saying that a man was unwell and was stumbling in the street.

“Local police arrived and performed CPR, but were unable to revive him. The Civil Guard has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of death.”

There has still been no official comment from either the local police or the Civil Guard.
