A British woman has died after being hit and dragged across the road by a reckless driver who lost control of his vehicle on the Greek island of Crete.
The 47-year-old man, whose name was not released, was enjoying a family holiday with relatives and in-laws in the coastal village of Georgioupoli in the Chania region of Crete last week.
They were walking along a country road on Friday afternoon when a silver Peugeot 206 sped down the road and struck the group.
The victim was thrown to the ground and dragged off the road by the car, which crashed through a wire fence and eventually came to rest about 40 feet away in the adjacent field.
Horrifying images of the site captured by a Greek media outlet Breaking news showed a pool of blood covering the asphalt at the side of the road.
