A cuckolded husband who put up with his wife’s “multiple affairs” finally gave in and punched his new rugby-playing lover.

David Lukey, an aerospace engineer, became angry when he returned to the family home to find his wife Andrea half-naked and evidence of another man in the house.

The 46-year-old went looking for him and when he found Christopher Andrews in the kitchen, he punched him in the mouth, splitting his lip.

He then smashed two televisions and family photos before trying to drag his estranged wife from the property, accidentally ripping off her top.

Lukey admitted charges of criminal damage and assault against his wife and Mr Andrews, but was spared jail at Poole Magistrates’ Court after saying he reacted “under extreme provocation” to the ” multiple affairs” of his wife.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order, requiring him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, complete 30 days of rehabilitation, pay £500 compensation for damages, as well as £199 costs and a victim surcharge.

The couple were married for a decade after Ms Lukey left her native Czech Republic to marry the engineer, but prosecutor Jason Spelman told the court their relationship had been “rocky” in recent years.

Mr Spelman said Lukey and his wife had separated six weeks earlier and Ms Lukey now considered herself single.

The couple had reached an agreement that they could return home to see their children and do their laundry. On the morning of September 20, 2023, he arrived and found someone else’s car in the way.

Mr. Spelman said: “His wife appeared wearing minimal clothing and he described feeling fucking furious knowing there was another man in the house.

“He said they had an agreement that she could live in the house and he would pay the mortgage provided she had no men in the family home.”

In her statement to police, Ms Lukey said: “Chris did not fight back, he kept trying to tell David to calm down. David was yelling at us to get out of the house. I felt very threatened.

“He smashed the television screens, smashed the photos on the bedside table and the door under the stairs.

“Then he tried to force me out of the house by the arm. He tore my top off and took it off, leaving me topless. Chris tried to get him arrested again, moments later the police arrived.

“I wasn’t physically hurt but I was very afraid of David. I noticed Chris had blood on his lip.

Ms Lukey, originally from the Czech Republic, said: “It has been very difficult throughout the whole process. I’m afraid of the person who once meant everything to me. I left my whole life in Prague for David.

Poole Magistrates’ Court heard the couple had been married for 10 years, but prosecutor Jason Spelman said Ms Lukey claimed their relationship had “struggled” in recent years and they had been separated for six weeks and that Ms. Lukey considered herself single (stock image).

She also said that she had to quit her job because her ex was “roaming around” and that she was now hoping to rebuild her and her children’s lives.

Lukey told the court: “I went through 14 months of hell before this. My wife had multiple affairs, a lot of things happened and it made me lose everything: my children, my wife, my house, my pets.

“I had to get back on my feet, I stopped drinking completely, I spend as much time as possible with my children and friends, I go for walks in nature, which has improved my mental health.

“I feel like I suffered and was punished more than enough. For 46 years, I have brought honor to all the communities of which I am a part. I hold myself to a high standard and slipped below that level once, under extreme provocation.

Interviewed after the trial, Mr Andrews would not comment on the matter, saying “it wasn’t worth it”.
