A man and a woman have appeared in court after allegedly having sex with a dog at least five times.

Graham Marshall, 38, and Paige Reaney, 33, are accused of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog called Charlie by “regularly subjecting him to habitual sexual activity”.

The charge is said to relate to sexual activity that allegedly occurred on “no less than five occasions” between August 2019 and December 2022.

They also face a charge of failing to protect him from pain and suffering caused by habitual sexual activity.

Marshall, of no fixed address, is accused of aiding and abetting Reaney to have sex with a dog.

Reaney is charged with a crime related to “causing or permitting” sexual intercourse with the same dog.

Marshall is also charged with one count of voyeurism and three counts of possession of extreme pornographic images relating to sexual acts involving an animal.

He also faces eight charges of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of children, including some said to be category A, the most serious.

Reaney, from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, is also charged with one count of possessing extreme pornographic images relating to sexual acts involving an animal.

None of the defendants entered a plea or plead guilty during a brief hearing at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday morning.

Judge Sarah Wright granted them both bail on condition that they have no contact with each other and that they do not own or care for any animals.

She told them: ‘There will be another hearing of your case on October 3. You must appear in court on October 3; failure to do so is a criminal offence.’

A tentative trial date has been set for June 2026.
