On June 12, Kendall called 911 to report an overdose inside a hotel room at the Palms Casino Resort (pictured), according to police documents.
Paramedics took Garcia to Spring Valley Hospital. Doctors detected no alcohol or drugs in his blood, immediately ruling out an overdose as a possible cause of death.
Instead, doctors suspected Garcia was the victim of an assault due to the injuries he sustained.
“Upon closer inspection … it appears she had been assaulted,” the nurse told the dispatcher about 15 minutes after Garcia arrived at the hospital. “We think it was an overdose, but she’s not responding to Narcan or any of those medications.”
“Do we have any suspicious information?” the operator asked the nurse.
“No, there was no one there and, as I said, it was an unknown person, an anonymous person,” the nurse said.
Garcia was declared brain dead and died in hospital a week after the incident at Palms.
