A powerful earthquake struck the central Wheatbelt in Western Australia overnight.
The 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck near the rural town of Wyalkatchem, about 192 kilometres east of Perth, at a depth of 6 kilometres at 6.40pm on Thursday.
The tremors continued into the early hours of Friday morning with a magnitude 2.2 quake recorded at 2:25 a.m. and a magnitude 2.9 quake at 3:50 a.m.
The earthquakes were felt at depths of 3 km and 7 km respectively.
GeoScience Australia recorded only two wind chill reports from the initial quake with no signs of damage to buildings or infrastructure so far.
Wyalkatchem had a population of just 358 people at the 2021 census.
