A 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the New South Wales region.
The quake struck at a depth of 1km in Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter region on Monday.
The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth 0.96 kilometers below its epicenter, creating shock waves that were felt by locals.
More than a dozen residents reported feeling a tremor and 22 people sent a report to Geoscience Australia.
Towns including Muswellbrook, Denman and Aberdeen may have felt light tremors.
Others further from the epicentre, such as Scone, Singleton Heights, Branxton and Cessnock, would probably not have felt anything.
Its exact magnitude, epicentre and depth will still have to be determined by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre in the coming hours.
