A woman who was sexually assaulted by Madeleine McCann’s prime suspect Christian Brueckner has revealed he smiled at her while performing a horrific sex act on her on an Algarve beach when she was just ten.
The woman, now 27, told the German sex offender’s trial that he “was waiting” behind a rock on a beach in the Portuguese town of Salema in 2007.
The woman, a German who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she remembered Brueckner, 47, because of his broad smile and distinctive smile.

She said she was left “distraught” and crying after the assault, in which Brueckner, currently on trial for a series of rapes and indecent assaults in Portugal between 2000 and 2017, grabbed her by the wrists and performed an indecent sexual act on her. .

Brueckner, currently serving a seven-year sentence for sexually assaulting a pensioner, allegedly told her to “look here” as he performed the sexual act on her, just meters from where her parents were sitting, without realizing what he was doing. happening.
The woman told the court: ‘The man came, came down from the rock and asked me what my name was. He said my name and then he grabbed my hands.
He added that his family contacted police after the attack and helped detectives put together an E-fit image.
But it wasn’t until 2019 that police contacted her again and told her they had identified a possible suspect.
While she told the court she was only 50% sure Brueckner was her attacker, despite identifying him in “six or seven” images, she said her own “investigation” led her to conclude he was the man who attacked her. .

Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year sentence for sexually assaulting a pensioner.
But the rapist’s defense accused the woman of “coupling” her investigation to her memories.
They also criticized the police for showing him photographs of Brueckner and his cars, claiming that this made his testimony “simply useless”.
