A 24-year-old woman who was forced to wear dentures after losing her teeth has finally gotten permanent teeth.
Natalie Lacasse, of Vancouver, has worn dentures since she was 19 – after months of painkiller-induced vomiting that caused her teeth to slowly rot and fall out.
After battling shame and embarrassment over her teeth – which she had hidden with dentures for years – Natalie finally got her smile back after raising almost $10,000 online to fund a new set of teeth permed.
“I still have a long way to go, but after two very long years without teeth, to finally have teeth again… it’s surreal,” the content creator said.
Natalie Lacasse, 24, lived without teeth for two years and wore dentures instead. She finally obtained permanent teeth that allow her to smile with confidence.

Despite the mental toll of missing teeth, the Vancouver native was determined to normalize her wearing and posted her journey on TikTok.

“I still have a long way to go, but after two very long years without teeth, to finally have teeth again… it’s surreal,” the content creator said.
“It’s so weird!” I didn’t realize how big this was going to be for me.
“The moment the mirror was handed to me (to see the results), I saw myself with real teeth.
“As I sat in the chair and saw my new smile, the way they fit so well, it was so crazy, I feel so confident.
“I repressed a lot of it over the years, after spending the first year with dentures in depression, crying every day.
“I started to repress it and ignore it. I only realized the severity of the last few years when I saw my smile again.”
Natalie’s teeth problems began when she was just 18 years old and found herself involved in a minor car accident that required a prescription for painkillers.
However, the drug gave him stomach ulcers and made him vomit for months, eventually making his teeth brittle and rotten.
Natalie first discovered she had stomach ulcers a few months after the accident, which happened in February 2017, and was immediately told to stop taking the medication she had been prescribed.
“They said to stop because it can have side effects like stomach ulcers depending on usage and dosage,” she said.
However, this did not stop the vomiting.

Without her dentures (left), Natalie had no top teeth. Now, with her permanent (R) teeth, she can’t help but show off her huge smile and newfound self-confidence.

“I started repressing it and ignoring it. I didn’t realize how serious the last few years were until I saw my smile again,” Natalie said of her dental journey.
“In June, the vomiting was so frequent that I had travel-size toothbrushes and toothpaste in my car and at work so I could brush my teeth after I was sick,” she recalls.
Natalie then started vomiting blood.
“That’s when I realized I could no longer hide from the doctors, and we discovered that the severity of my stomach ulcers was much worse than we thought,” she said. she declared.
“They found a tear in my esophagus from such illness and the ulcers lining my stomach, my digestive health was in ruins.”
“To heal, I was prescribed 18 medications a day to heal and repair my stomach.”
In October, she realized there was also a problem with her teeth.
“My teeth were almost becoming transparent – they were very thin and brittle,” Natalie said.
“Then one day, I went to take a sip from my coffee cup, but I hit it against my upper lip, causing my front tooth to break and fall out of my mouth.”
“That’s when I realized that the condition of my teeth was not only thin and transparent, but that they had lost all their enamel.”

“I repressed a lot of it over the years, after spending the first year with dentures, depressed and crying every day,” she recalls.

Natalie openly shared her dental journey online and gained 19,500 followers on TikTok, and was able to raise $9,909 for a set of permanent teeth through her GoFundMe.
“I rushed to the dentist and discovered the effects of brushing my teeth after being sick.
“Turns out it wasn’t the right thing to do, and I was brushing off stomach acid and throwing up in my teeth.”
“I completely cleared all the enamel from brushing after being sick.”
Aged just 19, the teenager’s only option was to have them removed.
Due to the cost of the procedure, Natalie could only remove a few teeth at a time.
At age 23, half of his teeth were missing, including the entire first row.
“I wanted to act like nothing happened and nothing happened, it was embarrassing for me and I felt ashamed,” she said.
“It made me lose my self-confidence, so I tried to hide, thinking no one needed to know.
“It was like my mouth was empty.”

Natalie tried to get dentures in 2021, but due to her financial situation, she couldn’t afford a good quality one.
“My prosthesis was so poorly made it was unbearable,” she said.
“I was stuck with no upper teeth and 11 broken teeth.
“I also had decayed lower teeth and nerve damage.”
In addition to struggling with missing teeth, Natalie was simultaneously learning to speak again by watching hundreds of speech disorder videos.
Her biggest obstacle was her language, and she practiced reading books aloud in her kitchen until she finally understood.
In January 2023, she looked into specialized dentures, considered permanent artificial teeth, and was told it would cost $10,000. So she created a GoFundMe to finance her new biters.
After getting dentures, Natalie began documenting her struggles in a series of candid videos on TikTok, where she eventually amassed nearly 20,000 followers — who then helped her raise $9,909 for a set of permanent teeth via a GoFundMe page.
By August, the funds had arrived and upper and lower prostheses were fitted.
Today, Natalie is an activist and content creator, sharing her journey online in hopes of helping others.
A recent TikTok post garnered over 65,800 views and was captioned: “YALLLL I was told to let the dentist open it tomorrow for sterilization purposes.”
The video showed her zooming in on the bag containing her old dentures.
The clip received thousands of likes, as well as numerous comments from baffled users.

Natalie added: “If I could give you advice on dental health and especially saving your smile, don’t hesitate and don’t be afraid to have several opinions.”

“The dentistry industry can unfortunately be a financial drain, and while it may give you everything you want to hear, not all dental specialists are in the industry for the right reasons.
“Also remember that whatever the circumstances, finding humor and positivity in any situation can make difficult times much easier to deal with and cope with.
