The shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m. at the McDonald’s location on East Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland, east of Tampa.

Things started after a customer “felt his order was incorrect,” Lakeland police said in a statement.

Gardner then argued with customers at the drive-thru window.

Surveillance video shows one of the customers reaching through the window and throwing some items to the ground before throwing glasses to the ground.

That led to Gardner throwing a drink at them just as they were leaving.

Two of the customers then got out of their car only to throw their own drinks, filled with ice, at Gardner.

But Gardner had brought a gun to work and could be seen walking through the kitchen area with the gun in her hand.

At least two other staff members could be seen working in the kitchen, but they did not appear to do anything to dissuade Gardner or tell him to put the gun away.

Gardner could then be seen leaving the fast food restaurant still with the gun in his hand.

Gardner still appears on surveillance footage as he leaves the fast food restaurant with the gun drawn.

Surveillance video clearly shows Gardner leaving the scene with the firearm.

Officers say Gardner allegedly fired the gun at the car as it drove away, and one of the bullets struck the vehicle.

Gardner was arrested and taken into custody, but was released from jail the next day after posting $15,000 bail.
