German art prodigy Mikkel Akar is taking the New York art scene by storm.
The ten-year-old launched his second New York exhibition “UNBELIEVABLE,” open to the public at the Modus10 Rolf Benz Flagship Store, selling over $80,000 worth of New York high society artwork in the gallery’s first weekend.
Hailing from Cologne – the birthplace of supermodel Heidi Klum – Mikail’s art has been compared to street artist Jean-Michel Basquiat for their penchant for graffiti-inspired pieces.
The young artist has been the toast of the international art circuit since he received hand paints and canvases as a birthday present from his parents at the age of four. He is now asking up to $16,000 for one of his colorful artworks.
Born in 2012, Mikael began his prolific artistic journey at the age of four, and by the age of seven he was making headlines all over the world and was being dubbed the “pre-school Picasso” while his abstract art also saw him compared to Jackson Pollack.
Mikail had many exhibitions in cities across Germany including Cologne, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, where international art collectors soon became acquainted with the young artist. This led to further performances in Vienna, Zurich and Istanbul.
Akar was photographed at the opening ceremony with his parents – mother Elvan Akar, father Kerem Akar and sister Nina Akar at Soho Modus Gallery 10

Child prodigy Mikel Akar, 10, makes a one-of-a-kind painting at the Empire State Building on April 3 in New York City.
At the launch party in New York, heiress Tina Radziwill, 63 — daughter of late socialite and former princess Lee Bouvier Radziwill, who was sister to former first lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis — parted with $50 for a print of one of Mikael’s artworks.
One guest snipe: “Good Tina is worth millions, a little more budget won’t kill her.”
The iconic publicist at Studio 54 Carmen Delicium also attended the ceremony. D’Alessiom lost none of the energy she brought to the infamous Niteclub where Biana Jagger and Andy Warhol were regulars, as she was one of the last people to leave the action.
Although he was at the exhibition launch party from 5pm, Mikail stayed until 10pm to sign art postcards for fans.
The young artist also has a philanthropic side and has gained notable attention by auctioning off his work for good causes such as the ‘Art Helps to Give’ campaign.
One of his most recent collaborations with mineral water brand, Gerolsteiner, has been with Mikail Akar Artist Edition, where his art has been printed on more than 17 million water bottles.
In addition, the painter also launched charity events in Turkey to help the local population during the earthquake in 2020 with the Civil Protection Authority AFAD.

Other projects that Mikail is currently working on include drawing a series of three classic cars which will go on a roadshow in the near future.
In addition, he is working on creating a 165-foot-long canvas for a classified project.
Despite his adventures as a creative artist, Mikail remained an ordinary child, attending school in Cologne fully supported by his parents and two brothers.
