In the clip, which was shared last month, Bailey began: “I created a TikTok account just so I could share what just happened to me, because I’m more stumped and confused than I’ve ever been in my entire life.” ‘

‘I don’t need to hear the sentence. That’s what I wanted, so that’s what I chose. And it’s so pretty. “It should have been very nice,” the buyer explained.

“So I ordered it and they delivered it this morning, and I was very, very, very excited.”

Bailey then directed the camera towards the packaging and cellophane he had removed from his package before filming.

She said it initially seemed “legitimate,” but not everything was as it seemed.

However, when I opened it. tThis is what I found. A can of albacore tuna,” the perplexed buyer stated.

Bailey brought the can up to the camera before showing the marks left on the foam packaging.

He then began to speculate about what might have happened to the item he ordered.

‘I don’t know if someone from the warehouse took it, replaced it and made a cell phone out of a hair dryer.

“I don’t know, but this is the most expensive can of tuna I’ve ever bought,” Bailey concluded.

The social media star uploaded the clip along with a simple caption that read, “Saks Fifth Avenue I need answers.”

And other social media users were left hysterical over the confusion as one wrote: “Never in a million years could I have predicted this.”

Another added: “This is so funny, I’m so sorry.”

And a third simply said: ‘Not the packing guy who changes the ashtray with your lunch!’

Following the widespread uproar over the situation, Bailey began giving regular updates on her account.

She shared the exchanges she had with the brand’s customer service representatives as she struggled to get a refund.

‘I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Shout out to Roger who finally helped me over the phone,” she wrote.

Bailey was then told thatthat he would have to order a new item while waiting for his refund, and subsequently posted a video tracking the arrival of his second package.

The anxious shopper opened the package and discovered that she finally had the real item in her hands, which she proudly showed off to her new followers.

Bailey said she finally received a refund and now uses the decorative piece as ‘small trinket dish that you use to store gold jewelry.

She concluded: ‘IIt makes me laugh when I look at it because I think of canned tuna.

‘Thank you all for making me laugh about this. Your comments have been so much fun, which makes it almost worth it.

Bailey has since spoken with Today to explain: ‘At first, when I was looking to buy something silly, I realized they did sell caviar and I thought, “Maybe they got confused,” but this isn’t caviar, it’s canned tuna.

“It didn’t even occur to me that it might have been a customer who had done it until one of my friends said, ‘I’ve heard of people doing this with bags.’ They order real bags, keep the real ones and replace them. Buy it with a fake one and then get a refund.”

And, according to Appriss Retail and the National Retail FederationIt is estimated that in 2023 around 13.7 percent of returns were fraudulent.

That represented a loss of up to $101 billion for retailers.

A Saks spokesperson has since told DailyMail.com: ‘We take our customers’ experience very seriously. Across the retail industry, there has been an increase in online fraud, particularly related to returns.

‘Luxury remains a target due to its high prices and as such, we have implemented more rigorous steps in our returns process, including additional checks and stronger authentication.

‘Our highly automated fulfillment centers handle millions of shipments each year, but it is not acceptable for even a small number of our customers to have this experience.

‘Regarding the Dolce & Gabbana ashtray, given the unusual nature of this situation, our team carefully investigated and it appears that the item originally sent to the customer had been a fraudulent return.

‘Upon learning of the situation, our team placed a replacement order on behalf of the customer.

“We apologize for any inconvenience as this does not reflect the luxury shopping experience Saks is known for.”
