A man has sparked a fierce backlash after revealing he wants to divorce his wife because their sex life is suffering now they have a baby.

The 30-year-old, who did not reveal his name, took to Reddit to ask if ending his marriage for lack of sex would make him a bad person.

He claimed the couple had previously had a “pretty wild sex life” but that his one-year-old son had since “kidnapped” his wife.

But other users of the discussion platform were stunned and quickly branded him an “imbecile.”

The man, believed to be based in the US, accepted the Will I Be The A**hole? thread to unravel the details of their difficult relationship in a post that has since been deleted.

He began: ‘I have been married to my childhood sweetheart, Jane, 29, for five years. She is the love of my life and the mother of my one-year-old son.’

He went on to recall their “wild sex life before the birth of our son,” when he claimed the paid ones did the act “almost every day.”

The exasperated husband added that while Jane “has always been beautiful,” her postpartum body “has done wonders and has gained weight in all the right places, that I want her more than ever, that sometimes it’s hard to control and I feel like a hormonal teenager.’

But, he continued, she is now rarely in the mood to be intimate.

‘My wife seems tired all the time, we take turns looking after our son at night and also feeding him. I try to take her out on dates and ask her if she’s feeling okay. But she always says that she is tired.

‘Now he doesn’t even like sex very much, it’s like he’s doing a chore.

“I go out and see all these attractive women, but they don’t even come close to my wife, and I feel sexually frustrated again, because here I am married to this beautiful woman and I can’t even have sex with her,” the man complained.

Almost all of the nearly 4,000 comments condemned the man for his callous attitude toward his wife.

‘I’ve only been with Jane, she was my first everything and I was hers. But now I’ve started to wonder if we rushed into marriage or if we married too young, and what it would have been like to date other people or never have children.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love my son, but he kidnapped my wife,” he added of his one-year-old son.

‘I didn’t mention any of this to my wife because I don’t want to hurt her. But let’s say, hypothetically, if I divorced her now, would I be the jerk?’ he asked.

Across nearly 4,000 comments, other Reddit users overwhelmingly agreed that the man would certainly be wrong to divorce his wife of five years over her lack of postpartum libido.

‘What the fuck is wrong with you?’ one began: ‘Your wife just had a baby.’ The first year is VERY hard and lack of sleep kills your libido. Your son has not kidnapped your wife; You look like a nine year old boy. He is a baby and he needs his mother.

Do you have a lovely family and a wife you love but you want to ruin it all because you’re not having enough sex? An idiot,” they concluded.

‘Do you understand that it can take up to three years after the birth of a child for a woman’s body to fully regulate and return to normal? That includes her hormones.

“Give her a break, she spent the better part of an entire year raising your child, gave birth, and is now adjusting to life with a very young child while her body, perhaps not obviously, is still healing,” he repeated one second.

‘Postpartum mental exhaustion is also a real thing that differs from what men experience. You are rushing and making it seem like you only love your wife for her body.

“I would be devastated if I heard that from my partner after having a baby,” another commenter emphasized.

Many others decided it was best to mock the man.

“I didn’t mention any of this to my wife BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO HURT HER…Let’s divorce her to make her smile,” one scoffed.

“Wisdom is still chasing him, but he’s faster,” another chimed in.

Reading all the comments clearly gave the man pause.

He later edited the post, giving an update on his mental state: “Thank you all for putting my head in the right place again, I knew it was a dick move to even ask this question but I was thinking with my F**k because my wife was wearing this beautiful red dress and the blood did not go to my head.

The husband concluded: “Now I will try to be a better husband and father.”
