CBS Sports enjoyed a record week for Champions League viewing figures thanks to the competition’s exciting quarter-finals.

Led by the popular broadcast team of Kate Abdo, Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards, Real Madrid’s thrilling victory over Manchester City on penalties was the network’s most-watched quarter-final match of all time .

The match at the Etihad Stadium attracted 1.11 million viewers, which was a 25 per cent increase compared to last year’s quarter-final.

A peak audience of 1.58 million tuned in to see Antonio Rudiger take the winning penalty and send off Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions.

Meanwhile, audiences also flocked to Paramount+ as the streaming platform enjoyed its most-streamed football game with double-digit growth in both households and streaming minutes compared to last season’s finale.

Paramount+ also enjoyed its most streamed day of football with Arsenal’s loss to Bayern Munich on the same day as Madrid’s victory over Man City.

CBS’ Champions League broadcasts have proven to be a ratings hit thanks to the jovial on-set relationship between Abdo and the three experts.

They will return later this month when the semi-finals begin on April 30 and May 1, with the return matches scheduled for May 7 and 8.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich’s reward for beating Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Arsenal respectively is to play each other.

In the other semi-final, Paris Saint-Germain will face Borussia Dortmund after beating Spanish giants Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
