Bethenny Frankel revealed she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder following her divorce from ex Jason Hoppy, calling the experience “traumatizing.”
The RHONY alum, 53, who recently showed off her toned figure in a stylish bikini, opened up about the divorce on Thursday’s episode of hers. B podcast only.
The TV personality and Hoppy married in 2010, but split just two years later. After reaching a financial settlement in 2016, the divorce was finalized in 2021, eight years after Bethenny initially filed.
‘They have burned me. “I have huge trust issues and I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder,” she said, according to Page six. “It was literally the most traumatizing thing I hope to go through in my life.”
The star added that the long divorce had been “more torturous” than the pain, while calling it “mental and emotional torture.”

‘I thought I would never survive. I didn’t see a way out. She was suffocating. I thought she was going to be miserable for the rest of my life.
Frankel also stated, “Everything has been done to me except physical abuse, and I am an expert on this subject.”
Some of the incidents he allegedly experienced included “fraud”, “multiple custodial trials” and also “following”.
‘I’ve been through a damn war, a war. I have questioned myself as a human being, as a father, because many times I was told how terrible I was, how disgusting, how old, how irrelevant and how abused I was, because I had no power to get out of this.’
While Bethenny explained to her listeners that for years it had been “impossible to talk” about divorce, she now felt “ready” to do so.
“How a person who is so smart and successful could make such bad decisions or just not know it or just have a bad hand, but it’s been a journey so I’m ready to discuss it.”
During the course of their relationship, Frankel and Hoppy welcomed their 13-year-old daughter Bryn, who “knows everything” about the divorce.
Since the bitter split, the Skinny Girl founder moved on with Paul Bernon, whom she began dating in 2018. In March 2021, the couple announced their engagement.

However, Bethenny admitted that Hoppy’s divorce still affected her relationship with Bernon. “That’s why I haven’t remarried, or I’m not sure if she would ever remarry.”
The reality star briefly spoke about her split from Jason in the past and previously called the divorce a ‘nightmare’ on her Just B podcast in December 2021, the same month the divorce was officially finalized.
‘I have spent millions of dollars, millions of tears. I’ve had a horrible, hall of fame, nightmare divorce,’ she admitted at the time.
The mother of one also stated, “I ended up marrying someone who was just a normal person, who looked like he could handle everything that was going on with me and being on a reality show.”
“And I was kind of proud of myself for marrying someone who had a simple life, and didn’t come from much, so he would never want anything from me.”
Frankel continued, “Because that’s not the case, people who don’t come from a lot of places are just happy with that kind of small-town life, and that would never really be a problem.”
During the previous episode, she also talked about issues with a prenup, then added, “What I’ve overcome and accomplished in divorce is so much more than what I’ve accomplished in philanthropy and in business.”

‘I have been through a terrible experience. I’ve been through hell. I’ve been to hell and back. “I can’t tell you how bad my experience has been,” Bethenny said.
The former couple went through a lengthy custody battle over their daughter Bryn, with Bethenny eventually acquiring full legal custody and primary residential custody. In 2021, Frankel also did not need to pay child support to her ex.
While speaking to People Now, according to TodayIn 2016, the same year the couple reached a financial settlement, she spoke about the divorce proceedings, saying, “I feel like justice is being done.”
‘It is being handled as it should be. It has lasted too long. I never wanted it to last more than a few months.
Bethenny added, “I feel like I survived something.” When everything falls apart, I will be a woman who hasn’t felt cornered.
