Surely, Luton Town’s fairy tale is not over yet. A heroic comeback at Kenilworth Road earned them their first win in 12 matches to breathe new life into the battle for Premier League survival.

Jordan Clark and Carlton Morris scored second-half goals after Bournemouth dominated the first and deservedly led through Marcus Tavernier.

Having picked up just three points from the last 30 available and with a trip to Man City to follow, this was at least a ‘must not miss’ for the Hatters.

Edwards’ beleaguered team were still without 10 players through injury, but the Kenilworth Road support was as loud as ever before kick-off.

But at Bournemouth they faced formidable opposition: Andoni Iraola’s team had won their last three games. Tavernier hit the corner of the post and the crossbar in a warning shot for Luton in the tenth minute.

Six minutes later, Justin Kluivert fired against the base of the post after a quick Bournemouth counter-attack and moments later fired into the roof of the net as Luton lived dangerously.

Luton’s first attempt came when Tatith Chong turned on the edge of the area to beat two defenders but lacked the composure to keep his shot. The Hatters held a 0-3 half-time lead when these teams met on the south coast before Bournemouth completed a sensational comeback to win 4-3.

The Cherries took the lead here in the 52nd minute when Tavernier fired a superb low shot from 20 yards into the corner after Kluivert had dived in from the right flank.

Luton lacked quality but not spirit and were unlucky not to equalize when Clark won the ball high up the pitch and found Carlton Morris who hit the post.

Edwards’ team were growing into the game as it progressed and the roof almost fell off Kenilworth Road when they scored a deserved equalizer with 17 minutes remaining.

The tireless Clark attacked the Bournemouth defence, had a bit of good luck when the ball returned to him from Lloyd Kelly, before burying his low shot into the corner.

Then, in the 90th minute, Luton made one final push when Cauley Woodrow crossed for Morris to side-foot home, sparking chants of “town stay up”.
