Despite serving the judges a dessert topped with pickled cherries that tasted like malt vinegar, fellow competitor Rana was sent home, sparking fury among viewers.
This decision sparked outrage online, as viewers believed that fellow competitor, Rana, had been “robbed” of her place in the quarter-finals.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user wrote: “Rana was robbed.”
‘So, you cook a dish that everyone says doesn’t work, and then you put vinegar in the dessert and you still can’t handle it? The decision to put Jerome through is shocking.
‘My other half just shouted FO at #MasterChef: yes Jerome, we’re all in shock. Rana was robbed.
“We’ve had a salt AND vinegar disaster.”
‘I think Jerome is a worthy quarter-finalist!’
‘Ehhhhhhh? So the guy who made the malt vinegar dessert stopped by.
“So a dessert that makes everyone choke to get to the quarterfinals?”
After his shocking exit, Rana said: “I went and did my best and enjoyed it and that’s all that matters.” I feel devastated, but I can go home and see my little ones.’
Gregg said, “I’ll tell you, what I don’t want anymore is cherries and malt vinegar.”
