Meta’s Instagram is down for the second day in a row, just over 24 hours after millions of people were locked out of their accounts on the company’s social platforms.
DownDetector, a site that monitors online disruption, has reported thousands of complaints about the app across the United States.
It’s not yet clear what triggered the issue, but it’s been 16 days since the social media platforms were taken offline due to an internal issue.
The issues began being reported just before 7 p.m. ET, with users posting images of their accounts being inaccessible and “logged out.”
DailyMail.com has contacted an Instagram spokesperson for comment.
Meta’s Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger are down worldwide, preventing the user from scrolling, posting, or contacting friends.
Users of the platform flock to Elon Musk’s X to share their frustrations, but also to see if they are the only ones experiencing problems.
#Instgramdown is trending on X, sparking a flood of what appear to be scammers claiming to be able to help people regain access to their social media accounts.
This is breaking news.
