Jamie Redknapp says Tottenham fell back into their bad ways in the defeat to Fulham and that should act as a warning sign for boss Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs missed the chance to overtake Aston Villa and finish fourth in the Premier League after losing 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Redknapp he told Sky Sports: ‘When I watched Tottenham this season, I saw so much joy in their game that I really enjoyed it. I thought those kinds of performances were a thing of the past, I didn’t think we would see them anymore with Ange Postecoglou.

“They were offside from minute one. They had a couple moments towards the end of the first half. I’m looking for excuses. Yes, (Micky) Van de Ven (being injured) is important because he is a very important player, but there have been other games that he has not played in and they have been good.

‘There was no power. Players who have had great performances… Destiny Udogie has been fantastic, but today, so out of place. (Yves) Bisssouma and (James) Maddison in midfield never won individual battles

‘I was impressed. I almost want to hear an excuse from the coach that there was a lasagna, a flu on the team. I can’t understand what I’ve seen in terms of his energy. The goals sum it up.”

Spurs came into this match on a high after a resounding victory at Aston Villa last weekend.

That meant fifth-placed Tottenham were able to overtake Villa and regain fourth place with three points at Craven Cottage, but they were impressed when Rodrigo Muñiz continued his fine form with a goal either side of half-time.

Sasa Lukic also scored in the 49th minute with his first goal for Fulham, who have now won four of their last six games.

“After the way they played against Aston Villa in the second half, when they beat them, they came into this game with an air of arrogance. The Premier League is not like that, this could be the warning Ange Postecoglou needs.

“I had been in that locker room when he was absolutely furious and pointing his finger at the players saying, ‘If you think that’s good enough, we won’t be in the top four or even the top five.’

They have to get back to work. “That was very uncharacteristic of what I’ve seen this season, it was like the previous two or three seasons.”
