Madame Web centers on Webb, a paramedic who develops clairvoyance after a near-death experience and is subsequently tasked with protecting three young superheroines from a dangerous adversary.
The film’s development was revealed to the public in 2019, when screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, best known for their work on Morbius, were hired to write the film’s script.

Director SJ Clarkson was subsequently attached to the project in May 2020.
