A group of masked men allegedly opened fire inside a home and assaulted a resident during a terrifying overnight robbery.
Initial reports suggest the group broke into a home in Canley Vale, in Sydney’s south-west, during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
NSW Police believe the group assaulted a 42-year-old man inside the home before fleeing with cash in a black Audi Q5 SUV.

It is understood that fake license plates are being used on the luxury car.
The 42-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a number of injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.
Police say the home invasion does not appear to be gang-related.
No arrests have yet been made.
