Mohamed Salah would not be able to recreate his goalscoring exploits at Liverpool if he were at Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou has suggested.
The Spurs boss believes Salah is confident his team-mates are fit and admitted his own team are struggling to provide service to their attackers.
His comments come ahead of the home clash against Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night.
The matchup pits the Premier League’s two top scorers against each other, and Salah, the top scorer with 18 goals, will hope to run rampant against an unpredictable defense.
“Mo is a world-class player, but if you put him in our team right now I’m not sure he’ll have the same impact because of the situation we’re in as a group,” Postecoglou said.
‘His attacking game, who do you need? You need a team that is in good shape, that creates opportunities, that plays on the front foot and that has a really solid foundation of a cohesive defense. None of these things exist right now.”

Expect Son Heung-min to improve if Tottenham can bounce back after a difficult spell.
He then turned his attention to Son Heung-min, the Spurs captain who this week extended his contract until 2026 but has not matched his usual prolific heights this campaign.
“I would dare say that if you put Son Heung-min in the Liverpool team, I think his scoring performance would be decent. We are a team that is very upset, that is not playing with the fluidity that it can. And that has an effect “said Postecoglou.
“It’s tough for our players right now, they’re trying so hard to be the best they can be.
“But when we’re at our best, I still think we’ll see Sonny come back, in terms of his ability to score goals and be really effective for us, I don’t think that’s diminished at all.”
The December meeting between the two teams provided fans with a veritable feast of goals just in time for Christmas.
Liverpool won 6-3 and Salah scored two goals.
