However, other fans flocked to her defense as they praised her for her “determination” and told her how lucky she was to have found her phone.
One wrote: ‘This story deserves to be a movie, or at least an episode of Seinfeld! What a roller coaster. I’m so glad you got your phone back!’

The former Bachelorette star (pictured with friend Abir), 35, took to Instagram on Sunday to detail her extraordinary experience after losing her iPhone in an Uber in Manhattan.
Georgia detailed the ordeal in a long Instagram video in the style of the ‘finger down’ challenge, where you put your finger down when you’ve done the thing in question.
She kicked off the video by saying, “Put your finger down if you left your phone in an Uber in Manhattan and you didn’t realize until you got in and then you couldn’t contact the Uber driver because you booked it on your phone and your phone was in the Uber.” .
“You’re alone, so you had to wait until the morning until you could use your friend’s phone to look for my iPhone and it was in a random place north of Manhattan where you’d never been.”
Georgia then detailed how she traveled to an eight-story parking lot in an attempt to find her phone, but to no avail, prompting her to start tracking her phone again.
“So you go there because you have no way of finding it otherwise and you get there and it’s an eight-level parking lot where there’s no way you can find it there,” he continued.
“So you start following it again and since then it has moved and starts going through Manhattan to Queens.
‘You go home, use your friend’s phone, finally log into your Uber account through their phone and contact the Uber driver. It’s in Queens, amazing, it’s still in the car.
“You call the Uber driver, he says he can’t find it anywhere, you make him go on FaceTime and look for the car with him because you don’t believe it’s not actually there because it’s in Queens and the phone is in Queens and That It’s too much of a coincidence.
Fans were distracted by a detail when she admitted that she called 911 during the search for her phone after filing a police report (she is pictured with Abir searching for her phone).
“But then you ask for their location, and their location is actually in a completely different part of Queens than where your phone says it is.”
Georgia then filed a report at the police station, but after being told it could take a week for anything to come true, she decided to look for it herself.
She explained: ‘So you go to the local police station and file a missing item report. They say nothing can really be done until I’m gone because it’s going to take a week.
‘So you decide to go to the place where the phone is because it’s been there for a few hours already.
“You take a train from Long Island to Flushing, Queens, you start walking the streets and you realize you can’t just go and knock on doors randomly.”
However, after realizing it was neither safe nor wise to knock on “random” doors in the area, she called the 911 emergency hotline and got the police to help her.
‘You call 911 and ask the local police to come with you. “You have to wait an hour and a half at -5°C on the side of the road,” he continued.
‘You find a New York City fire department station where you can walk in and write some notes.
Georgia has been living it up in New York with her friends over the past few days as they all celebrated the New Year together.
‘You write your friend’s number in the notes and put it on doors and cars near where the location rings so that if they find it in the morning, they can call you.
“You start to leave and then the police show up, knock on some doors and say there’s no way we’re going to find him.”
In a remarkable twist, they managed to locate her phone while knocking on the door and, although it was damaged, Georgia managed to recover it.
She concluded: “But the third door they knock on, the guy says, ‘Yeah, I found it today, they threw it in a trash can and I saw it hit the side, so I picked it up and here it is.'”
“Then you get your phone back and you have to take 24 hours to fix it, but then you made it and you didn’t die.”

Her husband Lee Elliot remained in Sydney during their US holiday, sparking rumors of a split between the couple.
They spent Christmas apart before Georgia flew to New York on Boxing Day, adding to speculation in recent months that their marriage could be in trouble.
However, Georgia has since broken her silence regarding continued speculation about her relationship with Lee.
She denied the rumors and insisted that she and Lee are still together while answering fans’ questions on social media.
When a fan asked her where Lee was, she replied, “He’s at home, I’m here visiting my friend.” I am incredibly tired of this question.
Georgia had previously clarified that she and Lee are still together despite not having been seen together in months.
‘We didn’t (divide), actually. The best thing is to stop speculating, and even less on my own page,’ he said on social networks.
“If I had something to say to everyone, I would do it myself.”
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Georgia and Lee on multiple occasions about the status of their relationship. Neither of them has responded.
