The horrifying moment a firework exploded in a teenager’s face on Christmas Day was captured on CCTV.
The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at a fenced construction site in Kalkallo, north of Melbourne, at 9.10pm on Wednesday.
CCTV footage showed the explosion, while another camera captured a man, believed to be a friend of the victim, screaming shortly afterwards.
‘Fuck,’ the man could be heard shouting.
The teenager, from Whittlesea, in Melbourne’s north-east, died instantly from critical injuries sustained in the explosion and it is understood the fireworks exploded in his face.
His devastated parents were seen collecting his car on Boxing Day morning.
Acting Senior Sergeant Fiona Parvin said she could not comment on whether the fireworks were homemade.
“It’s extremely distressing for the family and obviously the friends of this person,” Senior Sergeant Parvin said. 7news.
Victoria Police did not confirm whether the fireworks (pictured exploding) were homemade.

‘It’s a day you will never see the same way again. It’s tragic.’
Senior Sergeant Parvin reminded the public that setting off fireworks is illegal in Victoria, except by licensed pyrotechnicians.
“The public should not tamper with fireworks,” he said.
‘Do not touch them, do not pick them up, they are an explosive.
“They are very volatile and need to be handled by professionals.”
Residents confirmed there was a large hole in the fence around the construction site, which is located next to a housing estate.
Detectives are investigating and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
