Disney has taken another look at the upcoming live action remake of Snow White.
In it, Rachel Zegler, who stars as the heroine of the Brothers Grimm, sings a new song called Waiting on a Wish.
The song, written by EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, sounds like it was always meant to be part of the Snow White story.
‘Waiting for a wish / Holding on one day / Hoping somehow / A miracle comes to find me / I close my eyes and see / The girl I’m meant to be / Is she a part of me that I had to hide?’, the West Side Story star, 23, sings.
The film will hit theaters on March 21 and also stars Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Andrew Burnap as the Prince.
Zegler has caused a slew of controversies since the film’s announcement, most recently drawing outrage over her “badass” portrayal of the Disney princess.
Disney has taken another look at the upcoming live action remake of Snow White.
The trailer shows Snow White running away from Gadot’s evil queen, who is her mother, after ordering her murder.
Snow White runs away to the forest where she meets the seven dwarfs, while Zegler shows off her vocal prowess with “Waiting on a Wish.”
Snow White also meets love interest Jonathan (Andrew Burnap) before launching an offensive against the Evil Queen, saying, “The Queen has stolen everything from all of us, it’s time to restore our kingdom.” This is our kingdom and now we are here to take it back.”
Zegler previously revealed that even the classic “fairest of all” quote has been given a modern makeover.
‘Magic mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful of them all?’ Snow White’s evil stepmother, the Queen, asks about her mystical wall hanging in the 1937 film version.
But according to Zegler, that oh-so-iconic line takes on a completely different meaning.
“The reality is that the cartoon was made 85 years ago and is therefore extremely dated when it comes to ideas about women in power roles and what a woman is fit for in the world,” Rachel said. Entertainment weekly.
“And so when we started to reimagine the real role of Snow White, it was about the ‘fairest of them all,’ meaning who is the most just and who can make a great leader.”

Zegler also revealed another big change to the original storyline.
“She’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s the proactive one, and she’s the one who set the terms, which makes it so relevant to where we are today,” she said.
Gadot added, “She won’t dream about true love.”
Instead, Snow White dreams of becoming the best leader she knows she can be. “The leader her late father told her she could be if she were fearless, honest, courageous and faithful,” Zegler also shared with Variety.
“The original cartoon came out in 1937, and that’s clearly the case,” Rachel scoffed to Extra TV in 2022. ‘There is a lot of attention for her love story with a man who literally stalks her. Foreign. So we didn’t do that this time.’
“We take a different approach to what many people will undoubtedly assume is a love story just because we cast a man in the film.
“All of Andrew’s scenes could be deleted, who knows? It’s Hollywood, baby!’ she joked.
In a separate interview, she admitted she was “terrified” when she saw the original animated film Snow White.

Of the 1937 film, she said, “I was afraid of the original version. I think I saw him once and never picked him up again. I’m so serious.’
That same year, Zegler told Variety that her version of Snow White would dream of becoming a “fearless leader” instead of “dreaming about true love.”
‘For Snow White, there’s a famous scene where she falls into a lake, through a trapdoor-like thing in a forest. And we did it, and I got scuba training so I could spend a long time underwater,” the Golden Globe winner explained to Cosmo.
‘You learn how to use a breathing tube. I had a man named Pete, an ex-Marine, who was always attached to me, tied to me.
“And basically I spent…I want to say a total of 48 hours training. And then photographed for two whole days. It was underwater for seven hours.”
