Nicole Kidman’s exciting new erotic thriller, Babygirl, has just been released in the United States and critics and viewers alike can’t stop praising it.
The Australian actress, 57, plays a powerful New York business executive who begins a risky affair with her much younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson.
The film is currently certified “fresh” on film review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 79 percent.
Sheila O’Malley by rogerebert.com praised Kidman’s performance as Romy as a highlight of the film: “Kidman plays Romy at a high point and is very effective.”

Richard Roeper for The Chicago Sun-Times joined the chorus, with: “Kidman does a powerful job as the insecure, high-level executive who betrays her beloved husband.”

Elsewhere, Dana Stevens of Board praised the film for being engaging: “What keeps Babygirl from feeling preachy or serious is her sense of humor and her playfulness when it comes to sex.”
Meanwhile, the American public quickly took to social media to praise Kidman and her co-stars.
“It’s a really good movie,” one person wrote.
‘I love the movie! I can’t wait for part two!’ added a second user.
The film is currently only released in the US and will be released in Australian cinemas in January 2025.
Kidman recently teased that her erotic drama Babygirl is her most daring role to date as she shed light on the passion project.
The racy film includes some very intimate scenes, including one of Nicole’s character masturbating after having sex with her husband, played by Antonio Banderas.
When addressing the erotic scenes, Kidman, who recently starred in another cross-age romance, A Family Affair, admitted that it’s the most “exposed” she’s ever felt in front of the camera.

“There’s something inside me that says, ‘Okay, this was made for the big screen and to be seen with people.’ I’m not sure I have that much courage,” Nicole told the publication.
“I’ve made some films that are quite revealing, but not like this,” he added of the “confrontation” experience.
Nicole shared her apprehension about the public seeing the sex scenes, admitting that the “vulnerable” filming process left her feeling “torn.”
‘It’s like, wow, I’m doing this, and it’s actually going to be seen by the world now. “It’s a very strange feeling,” he said.
‘This is something you hide in your home videos. “It’s not something the world would normally see.”
Babygirl sees Nicole take on the role of Romy, a business executive balancing her career with trying to find fulfillment in her marriage to a theater director (Antonio).
Cracks in their marriage appear when new intern Samuel (Harris) makes clear his attraction to Romy and they begin to explore a “forbidden sexual dynamic.”
Director Halina Reijn is said to have wanted to focus specifically on the female orgasm in the thriller, with a charged scene showing Romy masturbating.
