DJ Alfredo has died at the age of 71.
The Ibiza legend has left his fans heartbroken and many have paid tribute to the star who ‘changed the world of music’.
The Argentine DJ, full name Alfredo Fiorito, is considered among the most influential in the history of dance music.
It was previously announced that he had suffered a stroke in 2021 and a fundraiser was later launched to support him.
The famous club that launched his career, Amnesia, paid tribute to him on Tuesday on Instagram.
His statement read: ‘Dear Alfredo, thank you for the nights and rhythms we shared together. Your music and vision shaped the sound of Balearic Beat and the soul of Amnesia.

‘So many memories were created thanks to your energy that your legacy will live on our dance floor forever.
‘You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Alfredo. The Amnesia family.’
Several dance music legends have paid tribute to him online, including Sister Bliss, Dave Pearce and Rowetta.
Sister Bliss wrote: “It’s very sad to hear the news about DJ Alfredo, my first trip to Ibiza in ’92 was to play for him at Amnesia… I can safely say he changed the of music for the better. Fly high towards the great concert in the sky.’
While Rowetta, who was previously a member of Happy Mondays, wrote: “Very sad to know that our friend, pioneering Ibiza DJ Alfredo, has left us.”
‘He was a legend when I first played KU in 1990 and always will be. RIP Alfredo.’
Dave Pearce, a fellow DJ, said: “It’s sad to hear that Ibiza dance music legend Dj Alfredo has passed away; he was a true pioneer of the Ibiza Balearic sound through his creativity and diversity in the music he mixed, creating a wonderful musical journey. Thoughts with your family and friends RIP.’
He emigrated to Ibiza in 1976 and became known for his eclectic style which influenced the Balearic beat movement and helped put the island on the musical map.

He first played at Amnesia in 1983, and in 1987 he inspired Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold and Nicky Holloway, who saw him play.
Fiorito was born in the city of Rosario in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. His early working life focused on training to become a journalist and he eventually worked as a newspaper music critic.
In 1976, at the age of 23, he emigrated to mainland Spain.
Shortly after he moved to Ibiza.
