A new Trader Joe’s brand snack item that “sounds so gross” is flying off the shelves this month.
Trader Joe’s shopkeeper Natasha Fischer took to social media to ask fans what they thought of the new chain Cashel blue cheese Irish chips.
On the new Potato Chips – made by an Irish supplier – one commenter insisted they would trade their ‘firstborn for a bag of them’.
The 5.5 ounce bag of Irish chips started getting a lot of attention on social media in November.
The combination of Irish potatoes and blue cheese in the chips brings what Trader Joe’s described as an “Emerald Isle elegance” to any situation that calls for a snack.
“If you’re a fan of blue cheese, these chips are a must-try,” Fischer wrote in her Instagram post description.
“If not, you might want to skip them, but trust me, blue cheese lovers can’t get enough.”
Shoppers can try the new flavor for themselves, but only if they hurry: the $2.99 bag of Trader Joe’s Cashel Blue Cheese Irish Potato Chips is only available for a limited time.
Social media users are raving about Trader Joe’s new Cashel Blue Cheese Irish Potato Chips
Shoppers left positive reviews about the new Potato Chip product, despite it sounding “so gross.”
Trader Joe’s product description stated that Irish exports are known for their “homey potatoes and creamy, full-flavored cheeses.”
‘Cashel Blue is largely considered Ireland’s most popular cheese, and with every bite of these chips you’ll see why: even when translated into the context of a potato chip, Cashel Blue’s cool creaminess and ripe, piquant overtones shine through . ‘ it said.
Some customers commented that they regretted buying only two bags of chips.
‘They were surprisingly good! A bit smelly, but most tasty cheeses are!’, one Instagrammer wrote.
Another customer wrote: ‘These were really good. Strong taste, which I like. I can’t wait to get them again.’
Other Instagram users who enjoyed the flavor claimed they tasted ‘even better’ with buffalo dip.
Fischer gave the product a nearly 10-star rating on her Dec. 9 Instagram post, and one X user claimed the Trader Joe’s brand item was a “7/10.”
‘Imagine a medieval athlete’s foot flavor – distinctly funky yet intriguing. These chips could redefine snack time,” said the X user wrote.
A few Reddit users claimed the chips were ‘better’ then a $2.69 bag of Trader Joe’s brand French Onion Popcorn.
Others praised the new Potato Chips for its overall taste and hoped it would be a… lasting product.

The snack can also be a finishing touch to any sandwich or burger, a Trader Joe’s employee told Christine Fiorentino of All recipes.
