Charlie Woods was sent back to Earth on Sunday afternoon after his father Tiger reminded him of the consequences of hitting a hole-in-one.
The 15-year-old enjoyed a historic moment on the course during the final round of the PNC Championship when he jumped off the tee box for the first time in his career, sparking wild scenes.
Shortly after hugging his dad and reveling in his success, superstar dad Tiger dampened his mood, and a hilarious clip of the moment quickly went viral.
Just off the fourth green, as Charlie pulled his ball out of the hole, Tiger can be heard saying to him, “You’re buying for everyone here.”
In response, Charlie hits back: “I’m not buying, I’m broke…” before Tiger adds: “You buy. He has to buy. That’s the protocol for making a hole-in-one.’
Charlie defiantly repeats, “I’m broke,” before Tiger twists the knife with, “Round on you, buddy.”
Tiger Woods was quick to remind his son that he owed everyone a drink after his hole-in-one
Tiger was the first on the scene celebrating with his son after holeing from the tee box
The clip had Golf Channel’s commentary team in hot water, and it remains to be seen if Charlie will continue the tradition.
In golf, it is common for someone who makes a hole-in-one to have to offer the entire clubhouse a drink at the end of their round.
Considering Tiger has earned a whopping $157 million since turning pro in 1996, and his net worth is around $1.3 billion, he’ll likely help his son if he finds himself counting his money at the bar.
It was a family affair for Tiger, with his daughter Sam on the bag and Charlie next to him
Woods couldn’t believe his eyes after watching Charlie make a hole-in-one on the fourth hole
The incredible moment on the course on Sunday came when the Woods pair took the equal lead on the final day of the PNC Championship.
Woods senior had returned from a sixth back operation in a decade to ensure he could play alongside his son, and he must have been glad he made the effort when Charlie’s hole-in-one hit the bottom of the cup reached.
It was a family affair for Tiger and Co on the course as he teamed up with his son for the match and had his daughter Sam act as caddy for the second year in a row.
