Pauline Hanson has lost the last One Nation member in New South Wales as Tania Mihailuk resigns over claims she knew nothing about the party’s funding.
The former mayor of Bankstown was the last remaining member of Mrs Hanson’s party in the state.
“After careful consideration, I have made the decision to end my membership in Pauline Hanson’s One Nation,” Mihailuk said in a statement Friday.
‘In New South Wales, the Electoral Commission provides administrative funding to eligible parties and elected independents.
‘Members of Parliament have a duty to their constituents to trust that such funds are managed transparently and in accordance with the legislative requirements of the New South Wales Electoral Commission.
‘Despite being the leader of New South Wales and the only PHON MP in New South Wales, I feel I cannot continue to be the public face and representative of the party in New South Wales when I am not fully informed about the arrangements. administrative functions of the Party within the state. of New South Wales.’
Ms Mihailuk added that her values ”haven’t changed” and that she would sit on the right-wing crossbench as a Conservative member of the Independent MLC.
She was appointed to the NSW Legislative Council last year after the resignation of former NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham.
Ms Mihailuk was the last remaining member of Ms Hanson’s party in New South Wales.
Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party kept Mihailuk in the dark about administrative funding, he claimed
In 2022 she was sacked from the New South Wales Labor Party after she used parliamentary privilege to raise concerns about the newly selected candidate, Khal Asfour.
She alleged Mr Asfour had property links to NSW Labor power broker Eddie Obeid, a charge he denied.
Asfour responded, during a parliamentary inquiry into allegations of misconduct in his office, by accusing Mihailuk of using taxpayer funds to buy beer, vodka, Chinese food and chicken nuggets.
Asfour sensationally withdrew from the Labor bid for the NSW Upper House ahead of the March 2023 state election, and later resigned from the Canterbury-Bankstown mayoralty.
