Logan Paul weighed in on Luigi Mangione’s story and pointed out what surprised him most about the arrest after the latter allegedly shot and killed Brian Thompson.
Mangione, 26, returned to New York on Thursday to face charges in the killing of former UnitedHealthcare executive Thompson, 50, on Dec. 4 in Midtown Manhattan.
After impulsive Co-host Mike Majlak recounted the events leading up to Mangione’s arrest, with Paul questioning what Mangione thought would happen to him besides facing a lengthy prison sentence.
“It seems like a bit of a pointless mission,” Paul said. “Incredibly short-sighted, dammit, which is crazy for an Ivy League student.”
His co-host Maljak agreed, saying Mangione’s story shows that violence in response to a disagreement doesn’t solve much.
“He was walking down the street and a man approached him from behind,” Majlak said. ‘With a 3D printed gun, with a silencer, I shot it once, it jammed, cleared it, shot it, jammed, cleared it, shot it, murder on video, that’s incredible. You don’t see it that often.
Logan Paul questioned why Luigi Mangione went to McDonald’s before being arrested
Mangione is the prime suspect in the murder of former UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson.
‘He goes on this chase, right? And there’s all this tradition; “Words on bullets, monopoly money in the stock market, McDonald’s,” he continued. ‘When you think about it, there is a lot of Americans associated with this murder.
After Majlak paused, Paul asked where Mangione’s footprints began.
‘Are you against healthcare? So why was he at McDonald’s? “McDonald’s is not very healthy,” the YouTuber asked.
“Because he’s against healthcare,” Majlak quickly responded. “Anything is contrary to health.”
Their silence was broken by laughter before Majlak insisted: “I don’t know.” “Maybe I was just fucking hungry.”
Mangione was arrested after being seen at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on December 9. Authorities quickly zeroed in on him, ending his five-day period on the run after the shooting.
During the arrest, authorities recovered a 9-millimeter handgun with a 3D-printed receiver, two ammunition magazines, several live cartridges, a homemade silencer, and a fake New Jersey ID.
While Paul’s question was left unanswered, Majlak and his guess Evan ‘Dwarf Mamba’ Eckenrode pointed out how even the healthiest people would cheat with a McDonald’s hash brown.
Later in the conversation, they reacted to Mangione’s praise despite the act he allegedly committed.
“I don’t think you can just murder someone,” Paul said. ‘That’s the problem. If he has blood on his hands, this CEO supposedly… How many lives would be okay?’
Mangione was flown to New York City and given a dystopian-looking ride in which he was flanked by several police officers and New York Mayor Eric Adams.
This week he was indicted on federal murder and harassment charges for the Dec. 4 shooting.
