Police launch murder probe after man was killed in knife fight in Melbourne

Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was killed and two others injured in a knife fight in Melbourne on Friday night.

The fight happened on McBurnie Drive, Kurunjang, in Melbourne’s northwest, shortly after 7pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended the scene after learning that a fight had broken out between a group of people.

Officers found three men injured at the scene, however, despite the best efforts of paramedics, one victim was pronounced dead.

The other two were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been prepared and officers are investigating what may have caused the incident.

“At this early stage of the investigation, it is believed that the parties involved in the fight were known to each other,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

No one has been arrested.

The police have cordoned off the area.

The road is expected to remain closed until late Saturday morning.
